Our client is an established international consultancy delivering design and project management services on a major hyperscale data centre campus in southern Portugal. The project is multi-phase, renewable-powered, and built to the highest international standards. Scale, ambition, and long-term pipeline — this one has the lot.
The Role:
Lead and coordinate the design process across multiple disciplines on a hyperscale data centre campus
Manage design consultants and ensure deliverables align with programme, budget, and quality requirements
Review and approve design packages across mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural works
Chair design coordination meetings and drive resolution of technical clashes and interface issues
Ensure compliance with local Portuguese regulations, international standards, and client specifications
Work closely with construction and commissioning teams to ensure design intent is carried through to delivery
Report on design progress, risks, and changes to senior project leadership
Contribute to value engineering initiatives without compromising performance or resilience
What They're Looking For:
Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline
Significant experience in a Design Manager role on large-scale data centre or mission-critical projects
Strong understanding of MEP systems, particularly in a data centre or high-density environment
Proven ability to manage and coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams
Familiarity with international design standards and ideally some exposure to European regulatory frameworks
Self-starter who can operate independently once established on site
Willingness to be based full-time in Sines for the initial 4–6 months, with flexibility to manage your own schedule after that
Open to full relocation to Portugal or a flexible working arrangement longer term
The Package:
€130,000 base salary
