Senior Mechanical Quantity Surveyor
Location: Cork, Ireland
Salary: €80k - €90K + €10k Car Allowance or Company Car & Fuel Card.
Are you ready to take charge of project costs, drive commercial success, and make a real impact in the process mechanical construction world? As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll be the go-to expert for managing budgets from day one to project handover—balancing cost control with safety, quality, and client satisfaction.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Review tenders, rates, preliminaries, and contract terms before projects kick off.
Raise invoices for completed work and provide clear cost justification.
Lead interim commercial meetings with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Keep the Commercial Manager and Directors updated with detailed project reports.
Handle purchase orders and invoices for customers and subcontractors.
Manage subcontractors from tender stage through to final account—evaluating rates, issuing agreements, and overseeing commercial aspects.
Oversee subcontractor accounts, interim valuations, and final settlements.
Ensure payment certificates are processed accurately and on time.
Work closely with project teams to track subcontractor claims, certify payments, and negotiate final accounts.
Administer contracts and client requirements, issuing interim and final accounts per project.
Submit monthly applications covering re-measures, site changes, day works, and any contract claims.
Identify and report material or labour escalations.
Review and control all project cost centres.
Spot potential commercial risks and alert senior management promptly.
Verify measures on works and ensure rates are correctly applied.
Manage variations, daily work changes, and subcontractor re-measurements.
Liaise with clients on progress valuations, supporting documentation, final accounts, and retentions.
Follow company processes and maintain industry-standard best practices.
What You Bring to the Table:
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
5–10 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably in the process mechanical sector.
Confident with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
Logical thinker who can link technical requirements to commercial outcomes.
Accountable and organised, taking ownership from start to finish.
Decisive, able to make strong calls even with incomplete info.
Strong negotiator with excellent rapport-building skills.
Numerate, financially savvy, and detail-obsessed.
Great communicator, both written and verbal.
Personable, collaborative, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Able to juggle multiple tasks without breaking a sweat.
